Probably the highlight of Merida was the cool people I met. On my first day I went for a stroll with this Swedish chef I had just met, who just came from Cuba equipped with fascinating stories. We had heard good things about the Museum of Anthropology in the city, so we headed there. It turned out that the city just decided to be dead that week, and the museum, along with many others, was to be closed during my stay.
